Man struck, killed by truck on Yellowhead Trail

Edmonton police are investigating after a 26-year-old man was struck and killed by a three-tonne truck on Yellowhead Trail Friday morning.

At around 8:30 a.m., police were called to the area of Yellowhead Trail and 66 Street.

It was reported to police that the pedestrian stepped out in front of the truck as it was heading east on the Yellowhead, between 67 and 68 streets.

The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said in a media release shortly after noon Friday.

Police said the truck remained at the scene. No charges are being laid, according to police.

The eastbound lanes of Yellowhead Trail were closed at 66 Street following the incident Friday morning. The roadway reopened shortly after 1 p.m.
