A snowfall warning issued by Environment Canada on Monday for the Greater Montreal Area was cancelled early Tuesday morning.

About 15 to 25 centimetres of snow was expected to fall from Monday night through Wednesday, but now the Montreal area is expected to receive only around 10 centimetres.
Nonetheless, safety on the roads remains a top priority.

“Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations,” Environment Canada stated.
“There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.”
Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) was also asking commuters to give themselves extra time on Tuesday morning due to the difficult conditions.
“Buses must also deal with snow, traffic jams, fender benders and slippery roads,” the transit authority said on its website.
