OPP were called to the scene at between Shantz Station Road and Wellington Road 32 at around 6:45 a.m. The road was closed shortly thereafter and did not reopen until around 10 a.m.

OPP Const. Joshua Cunningham said that a 19-year-old Kitchener man was driving west across the highway when, after his car touched the median, he overcorrected and drifted into the eastbound lane, hitting another car driven by a 37-year-old Kitchener man.
The pair were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening-injuries.

Cunningham says that weather played a factor in the crash, noting that neither car had snow tires.

“We really want to stress the importance that people need to adjust to winter driving,” Cunningham said.
