TORONTO – Daytime TV personality Sara Gilbert is engaged to musician Linda Perry.
Gilbert, best known for playing Darlene on the long-running sitcom Roseanne, shared the news on Monday’s episode of The Talk, which she co-hosts.
She and Perry have been together for a year.
“We go to a park, we have food and we’re eating it, it’s really sweet and there’s this guy sitting playing guitar, like a street musician,” Gilbert said of the proposal. “He starts playing this song that we love… I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s so weird, this is so magical and amazing.’ Suddenly the people picnicking next to us pull out string instruments from under the blanket and walk over and they start playing [The Cure’s] ‘Love Song’.”
Perry then pulled out a ring and popped the question.

Gilbert, 38, has two children with her partner of more than a decade, TV producer Allison Adler. The couple split in 2011.
Perry, 47, is a former member of 4 Non Blondes and has written and produced tracks for artists like Christina Aguilera and Pink.
