TORONTO – A man has died after a serious motorcycle crash Monday afternoon in Markham.

The incident happened just before 1 p.m. near Major Mackenzie Drive and McCowan Road in Markham when a motorcycle appears to have collided with another car.

It’s currently unclear what led to the collision.

The Special Investigations Unit, which was brought in to investigate, says York Regional Police officers tried to stop the motorcycle.

The victim was rushed to Markham Stouffville hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Major Mackenzie Drive East is closed in both direction from McCowan Road to Stricker Avenue as police investigate the fatal collision.
