The Kelowna Rockets didn’t have a lot of time to enjoy their remarkable come-from-behind playoff victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds. The Rockets won 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday, but that is already ancient history.
“You enjoy your win after the game, but in the playoffs you have to move on very quickly,” said Rockets head coach Ryan Huska.
Tonight the Rockets take to the ice against the Kamloops Blazers for the start of the second round of the playoffs. The two teams were evenly matched in the regular season as they fought for first place in the BC Division of the WHL. The old rivalry between Kelowna and Kamloops appears to have been revived and both teams are expecting a long, tough series. Tyson Baillie, the overtime hero against Seattle, predicts, “Players are going to get angry. Their blood will be boiling.”
This morning the teams each held a light practice at Prospera Place in Kelowna. Tonight’s game gets under way at 7:05 pm. The teams meet again tomorrow at 5:05 pm.
All games will be carried live on Shaw.
