Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen election results 2018

For the first time in 20 years, the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen will have a new mayor.

Ron Gerow is walking away from municipal politics after serving as mayor since 1998. But his career on council dates back to the 1980s when he served the village of Havelock.

That opens the door for two candidates: Jim Martin and Andy Sharpe.

Martin is the township’s current deputy mayor, narrowly defeating Sharpe for the position in 2014. The owner of a landscaping business won by just over 300 votes.

Sharpe, a cabinet maker, has 15 years of municipal experience and currently serves on the board of Peterborough Public Health.
