Streets and back lanes in the area were taped off with yellow police tape and several police vehicles, including regular patrol units and the tactical team, were on scene.

No officers on scene would answer questions about the situation, and no one in an official capacity at the Winnipeg Police Service was taking calls from reporters. There was no confirmation of reports two people had been shot.

Global’s Skyview1 helicopter observed police and the K-9 unit searching streets and lanes shortly before 5 pm. Two ambulances were also on scene.
