PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – The Saskatoon Contacts and Prince Albert Mintos collided in game five at Art Hauser Centre to crown a provincial champion on Friday.
It was a back-and-forth series between the number 1 ranked Contacts and the runner up team from the north.
The Contacts were looking to clinch their second straight Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League (SMAAAHL) title, but would have to do so in enemy territory.

In the second period, a delayed penalty was coming to P.A. when Saskatoon’s Vukie Mpofu buried the puck from Cameron Hebig.
Mintos’ Kylar Hope tied it up early in the third, but Rodney Southam scored an unassisted goal to reclaim the lead for Saskatoon
Southam scored an empty netter to give the Contacts a 3-1 win.
Rylan Parenteau started in net for the Contacts and stopped 30 shots.
The Contacts will now battle it out in Western Canada Regionals for a shot at the 2013 Telus Cup in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Saskatoon Contacts last won the national trophy in 2005.
