Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan officials continue to monitor weather concerns after smoky conditions cancelled one performance and threatens more going forward.
Patrons were given the option to refund or exchange tickets after the air quality index reached 10 or ‘high risk,’ resulting from wildfires in British Columbia.
As of Thursday, the festival has been forced to cancel three shows in 2018 – two due to smoke and one resulting from extreme heat.
“We’ve had a pretty unlikely run from Mother Nature in the last week or so,” said Will Brooks, artistic producer of Saskatchewan on the Saskatchewan.

Going forward, the festival recommends watching its social media accounts to learn whether more shows are cancelled.
“If we do think that there is a potential that we might be able to do the show, we’ll hold that final decision as late as possible,” Brooks said.
The final decision on a 7:30 p.m. show would be made, at the latest, at 7 p.m., he added.
On Wednesday, the City of Saskatoon closed the Forestry Farm Park & Zoo and all outdoor pools early in the evening due to low attendance caused by air quality conditions.
Nutrien Playland was also closed due to smoke, “mostly because there were less than four people there,” said Lynne Lacroix, the city’s director of recreation and community development.
City golf courses post the air quality index on-site, but remain open, Lacroix added.
A change in wind direction Thursday is expected to improve diminished air quality, according to a statement on Environment Canada’s website.
