Man charged after driving car through house in Léry

A 22-year-old man is facing several charges after a spectacular car crash in Léry, Que., Tuesday morning.

Yannick Pronovost, a Beauharnois resident, is accused of stealing a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle when prohibited and failing to comply with a condition of a probation order.

The crash happened at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Residents of Lac-Saint-Louis Road reported hearing a loud noise.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found an abandoned car that appeared to have gone straight through one home before crashing into the neighbouring house.

Police said the vehicle had been stolen earlier in the evening, not far from where the crash happened.

No one inside either of the homes was injured.

Pronovost will be detained until his bail hearing, which is scheduled for Thursday in Valleyfield.
