‘Tug-of-war’ between two pick-up trucks in Cape Breton parking lot results in charges

An apparent tug-of-war between two vehicles in a parking lot in Cape Breton has resulted in charges being laid under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Cape Breton Regional Police say at 7:30 pm., they received citizen complaints of two vehicles trying to tow each other in opposite directions at the County Arena in Sydney, N.S.

When officers arrived they located the two vehicles. Based on witness information and evidence from the scene, officers issued summary offence tickets to both drivers for violating the Motor Vehicle Act.

Police say the driver of a 2013 Dodge Ram was charged with failing to operate a motor vehicle in a careful and prudent manner — which must be dealt with in Court — and failing to comply with a requirement respecting motor vehicle liability policy, which carries a fine of $180.

The driver of a 1997 Dodge Dakota was also charged with failing to operate a motor vehicle in a careful and prudent manner and failing to comply with a requirement respecting motor vehicle liability policy.

The Dodge Dakota was unregistered and the driver also faces a charge for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, which carries a fine of $180. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
