Fire crews battled a large blaze at a recycling facility just outside Calgary’s southeastern city limits Wednesday.
The call came in at around 9:22 a.m. for a report of a pile of wood and cardboard on fire at Recycling Worx Inc., located on Range Road 284 and Township Road 240 in Rocky View County, Rocky View County Fire Service district chief William Clarke said.
Later Wednesday morning, Clarke said the fire was being contained and crews were using “a lot of water” to put out the stubborn blaze.

“It’s a deep-seated fire,” Clarke said.
There were no injuries and no structures were being threatened, he said.
Fire crews from Chestermere were on the scene assisting.
Clarke said the cause remains unknown.
