Barrie police seek public’s help identifying suspects accused of stealing $3,200 in sunglasses

Barrie police are seeking the public’s help in identifying two suspects accused of stealing more than $3,200 in sunglasses from Sunglass Hut in the Georgian Mall.

According to police, on July 9 at 8:10 p.m., two suspects entered the Sunglass Hut located in the Georgian Mall on Bayfield Street.

Police say while an employee was cashing out another customer, the female suspect began selecting pairs of sunglasses and hiding them on her person and in a bag she was carrying.

According to police, the second suspect helped by taking some glasses from the display and handing them to her while keeping an eye on the employee.

Police say the pair then moved other glasses around to fill in the gaps on the display.

After less than three minutes in the store, police say seven pairs of sunglasses were stolen. Officers estimate the value of the stolen goods exceeds $3,200.

Police are now looking to identify two suspects in connection with the alleged theft.

Officers say the first suspect is a woman, approximately 45 years old, with a large build. Police say she was seen wearing a light-coloured dress, denim jacket with frayed rips and a red pattern on the left arm and back, black and silver flip-flops, a black brimmed hat, a gold chain around her neck and was carrying a black purse and a light-coloured H&M bag in her hand.

Police say the second suspect is a man, approximately 20 years old, with a thin build and black hair. He was seen wearing a blue T-shirt with The Great Gatsby in white lettering written on the front, black track pants, a gold chain around his neck, white socks, black flip-flops and was holding a white cellphone.
