Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate to investigate the death of a woman in the city’s southwest end.

London police say officers were dispatched to a call about a woman in distress at an apartment in the area of Wonderland Road South and Southdale Road West around 9:40 p.m. Sunday.

In a statement released later in the morning on Monday, the SIU said when London officers arrived at the unit they tried to negotiate with the woman. Shortly after they say she fell from the balcony to the ground below.
