Hollywood star Nicolas Cage in Vernon filming movie

A movie starring Nicolas Cage was being filmed in the Okanagan on Thursday.

A Score To Settle was being filmed along 27 Street in Vernon, B.C. and crowds gathered to get a glimpse of the Hollywood star.

Cage was spotted filming an action sequence, in which he is shot, on the steps of All Saints Anglican Church.

The production team is expected to film for about a week in the Vernon area.

Watch Below: Vernon got a little taste of Hollywood on Thursday as star Nicolas Cage was spotted filming an action scene right in the center of town. As Megan Turcato reports, the event drew a crowd.

“The Okanagan in general is becoming a better area to shoot. Vancouver is very, very busy,” said Robert Bricker, the film’s assistant location manager.

“Vernon is my hometown, so it is fun to be able to look at a script and say, ‘Hey, we can do that here.’”

Vernon is standing in for Oregon in the mob movie.

The movie is described on IMDb as the story of “an ex-enforcer for a local crime syndicate [who] has vowed to enact retribution on his mob bosses after 22 years of wrongful imprisonment.”

While filming was going on, 27 Street was closed to traffic from 32 Avenue to 35 Avenue.
