Police are investigating after a cyclist participating in the Ironman competition in Huntsville was allegedly run off the road by a cube van.
According to Huntsville OPP, officers were conducting traffic control on Brunel Road in the town during the 70.3 Ironman competition.
Police say officers noticed a cube style van heading northbound in the same direction as the cyclists that were involved in the race.
Police investigation revealed that the cube van forced the cyclist onto the left shoulder causing the rider to catapult into the air and land hard on the gravel shoulder.
Police say the medical support team for the event was in the area at the time of the crash and immediately tended to the cyclist.
Officers say he was transported to a local area hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries before being released.
According to police, the cube van left the scene.
