Aboriginal group wants more money invested in to First Nation students

An aboriginal group wants the federal government to spend more money on education for First Nation students.

The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations said there is a big gap between what is spent on schools on reserves and on schools that are funded by the province.

A communications officer with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development says the federal government spends about the same amount of money on First Nations education as the provinces.

Jason MacDonald also says the government plans to pass legislation to fix problems in the First Nations education system.
