Escaped New Brunswick inmate taken into custody in Quebec by SQ officers

An inmate who escaped from a northwestern New Brunswick jail is now back in custody, the New Brunswick RCMP announced on Sunday.

Kevin Beaulieu, 38, was arrested on Sunday by police officers from the Sûreté du Québec in Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande, Quebec.

Beaulieu had escaped at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 7 after hopping the fence at Madawaska Regional Correctional Centre and running off on foot.

He travelled roughly 36 km before being arrested.
