RCMP investigating after Red Wing man dies in hospital following violent robbery

Prince Albert RCMP have charged a 21-year-old man after a robbery turned deadly.

On June 25th at 8:43 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report of an assault outside a residence in Red Wing, Saskatchewan.

Sheldon Goodvoice has been charged with Robbery with Violence.

According to police, Goodvoice pulled up in a truck outside the residence, assaulted the adult male victim as he was leaving the residence and took his watch before leaving the scene.

The victim went back inside the house following the assault where he then became unresponsive.

He was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

According to RCMP, there is no indication that his death is related to the robbery as the initial findings of the autopsy point to a medical issue.

The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the RCMP’s General Investigation Section, Forensic Identification Section and the Provincial Coroner’s office.

Goodvoice was a provincial corrections inmate at the time of the incident, serving his sentence at a community training residence in Prince Albert, where he was monitored and under conditions.

Goodvoice has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court again in Prince Albert on July 6th at 10:00 a.m.
