Barrie police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a woman accused of stealing gas.
According to police, surveillance video from an Esso gas station on Bayfield Street captured footage of a woman allegedly stealing gas on June 7, and again on June 26.
Police say the suspect made no attempt to pay for the gas either day and fled the area.
According to police, the vehicle was not equipped with a front licence plate, and the rear plate had been obstructed.
Police are now searching for a woman in her 30s, with a heavy build. She has short brown hair worn in a ponytail, and was seen wearing a black tank top, leggings and black shoes.
The vehicle in question is a black, four-door Hyundai Santa Fe, police said.
According to police, the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to please contact the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025, ext.2549 or bcarleton@barriepolice.ca. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or online at www.p3tips.com.
