As we celebrate Canada Day, here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed on July 1 and the stat holiday Monday.
What’s open
- It’s best to call ahead, but generally speaking, retail outlets that are usually open on Sundays will remain open on July 1 and observe the stat holiday on Monday instead. This includes Eastgate Square, CF Lime Ridge, Mapleview Centre and Burlington Mall.
- LCBO locations are open on Sunday, and closed Monday. Beer Stores are open on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with some exceptions, and closed Monday as well.
- The HSR will be operating on a Sunday/Holiday Schedule on Monday; ATS-DARTS is on holiday service. Burlington Transit will operate regular Sunday service on Canada Day, with a holiday service schedule on Monday. GO Transit is running on a Saturday schedule on Monday.
- Senior Centres, the Dundas Driving Park, outdoor pools and the Gage Park wading pool will be open. Recreation centres are on modified schedules.
- Movie theatres are usually open on all holidays
- The city’s Canada Day celebration is being held at Bayfront and Pier 8 Parks. There’s live entertainment all day, and fireworks at 10 p.m. The City of Burlington’s Canada Day festivities are taking place at Spencer Smith Park.
