Autopsy determines Lessard Lake, Alta. resident victim of homicide

*UPDATE: On July 25, 2019, RCMP said Aurion Mustus, 21, of Alexis First Nation, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the homicide of Kaminski. Mustus is scheduled to appear in court in Mayerthorpe on Aug. 1.

Mayerthorpe RCMP are investigating the death of a 57-year-old man northwest of Edmonton.

Police were called to a cabin at Lessard Lake at around 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 16 where they found the man’s body.

An autopsy was conducted at the office of the chief medical examiner in Edmonton on Wednesday and it was determined Peter Joseph Kaminski was the victim of a homicide.

Kaminski was the only person who lived in the cabin, RCMP said.

RCMP Major Crimes South are involved in the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information about the investigation or the victim to contact Mayerthorpe RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
