How to get there

The City of Calgary will also be adjusting the hours and routes of its transit services to accommodate the holiday weekend. Calgarians are encouraged to walk, bike or research and take transit routes to Canada Day events.

According to the city, on July 1 and 2 transit will be providing a Sunday level of service, which means reduced routes and hours throughout the city.

Certain buses will also be detoured along a number of roads and routes — including the Centre Street Bridge, Riverfront Avenue and Memorial Drive — as areas will be closed or blocked off for Canada Day celebrations.

In addition to Canada Day detours, the Whitehorn and Rundle CTrain stations will be closed for maintenance from June 30 to July 2.

Street parking as well as Calgary Parking Authority parkade parking is free on July 1 except for the Arts Commons Parkade where holiday rates will be in effect, according to the city.

The city is also reminding people that there is no parking in alleyways and that ticketing and towing policies will be in effect throughout the long weekend.
