A body was taken away from the scene of a house fire in Chestermere on Tuesday afternoon, Global News has confirmed.
RCMP said just after 4 p.m. that two investigations are ongoing — one into the death of the man and one into the cause of the blaze.
The home in the Lake Ere Estates area was destroyed in an early morning blaze. Fire crews were called at about 5:13 a.m.
RCMP were also on scene “with specialized support units,” RCMP said in a release.
None of the neighbouring homes were destroyed by the fire.
RCMP said the death of the man, who has not been identified, is not considered suspicious. An autopsy has been scheduled for later this week to determine the cause of death.
Chestermere Fire Services is also investigating the cause of the fire.
Chestermere is about 28 kilometres east of Calgary.
