A wildfire that could be seen burning near the community of Cochrane late Wednesday afternoon was not expected to grow any further in size, officials said later in the evening.
The Calgary Fire Department said the blaze was in the vicinity of George Fox Trail and Bow Ridge Drive on the west side of Cochrane.
Between 4:40 p.m. and 5:50 p.m., the out-of-control fire had grown from one hectare in size to 15.
On Wednesday night, a spokesperson with Alberta Wildfire told Global News the fire was being held and is not expected to grow past its current boundaries. The blaze was confirmed to be about a kilometre away from Cochrane.
No properties were impacted by the fire officials said.
Air tankers and water bombers could be seen fighting the fire from the sky.

Cochrane is about 35 kilometres west of Calgary.
