Mother’s Day is the perfect time to thank her for all the things she does all year ’round.
For moms and grandmothers, it’s also a great time to reminisce and reflect on their early days as parents. And for new mothers and grandmothers celebrating for the first time, the second Sunday in May is extra special.

Samantha Stevens, morning show host at Peggy 99.1, remembers her mom’s achievements:
“My sister and I are lucky enough to still have our mom. Jo-Anne lives a pretty care-free life now in a retirement home now, which she loves,” said Peggy 99.1 morning show host Samantha Stevens.
If you ask, she’ll proudly tell you she was one of the first women drivers on North American highways. She received her Class ‘A’ license in 1982 and logged hundreds of thousands of miles doing what she dreamed of. She was the greatest example of what it meant to spend your life doing what you love.

Fourteen years ago our mom, after brain surgery, had a pretty massive stroke. Take that chance, make that move, and never miss an opportunity to tell someone you love them.

“I love my 90-year-old mother-in-law, and to honour her I had a cartoon ‘Love Book’ made lauding her qualities. I was so excited to find a thoughtful ‘homemade’ gift.,” said Marion Reichert.

Jennifer Wees shared the moment she won a contest for her mom:
Jennifer Wees entered a radio-sponsored contest where she had to say why her mother should win the Mother’s Day gift of a housecleaning and a brunch at Calgary’s (now closed) Happy Valley Restaurant.

“On the morning of Mother’s Day, a big bus arrived and out dashed men in overalls with hard hats and exaggerated implements for cleaning. We got on the bus and went to a restaurant at Happy Valley for a wonderful brunch. It was one of the best Mother’s Days I ever celebrated,” said Janet Wees.
