A central Alberta man doesn’t have much time left to spend in jail where he was facing a total of 100 weapons and stolen property charges.
Andrew Scott Charpentier, who is 25, was arrested late last year following a pair of firearms and stolen property busts in Red Deer.

RCMP searched a storage locker and a private home in November and seized a total of 25 rifles, four shotguns, four crossbows, two pellet guns, a replica firearm and ammunition.
They also recovered dirt bikes, chainsaws, a generator and electronics — all stolen — as well as stolen identity documents.

Police said the firearms were stored in a hockey bag, sleeping bag, a ski bag and gun cases.

Charpentier, who is well-known to police, pleaded guilty this week to three stolen property charges and 28 firearms-related charges, while dozens of other counts were withdrawn.

He was sentenced to 230 days in jail — minus credit for time in custody, leaving him with 53 days.
Kelsey Pearl Trope, 25, who was arrested along with Charpentier, faces 98 charges and is to go to trial in June in Red Deer provincial court.
Police said at the time of the arrests that the searches were part of a larger crime reduction effort focused on identifying prolific offenders through targeted investigations.
