Port Hope police say they seized a gun and drugs following an altercation with a man at a hotel on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers were called to the Comfort Inn on County Road 28 around 12:30 p.m. on an unrelated matter when they witnessed a disturbance between a man and a woman.
“The officers interceded and the man fled the area into a hotel room,” police stated on Wednesday.
Police say the man then exited the first-floor room via a window and fled on foot. Police pursued and got into a brief struggle before arresting the suspect.
Officers discovered drugs believed to be crystal methamphetamine and Canadian currency on the man, police stated.
A search warrant executed on the hotel room and police say they seized more cash along with a shotgun with a modified shortened barrel.
Officers also learned the suspect was wanted on a warrant in the Waterloo region.
