A GoFundMe campaign for the Humboldt Broncos will close on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at 11:59 p.m.
Broncos’ president Kevin Garinger met with media to announce the plan for managing donations which are over $12 million as of April 16.
Money will be transferred to the newly-formed Humboldt Broncos Memorial Fund Inc.
“Our goal has been right from day one to support the needs of our families and that is ultimately what we are going to do,” Garinger said.

“The GoFundMe dollars we will be going through and establishing a committee that will work with us, work without legal counsel essentially to look at how we are going to disperse those funds.”
Any money donated after the online campaign closes will go to the Humboldt Strong Community Foundation to handle.
The original fundraising goal was $5,000. The campaign was established by Humboldt resident Sylvie Kellington.
Garinger said the intent was to cover coffees and parking of families directly dealing with the tragedy but “it got much larger.”
