Passenger sees ‘projectile’ smash bus shelter, Kingston Transit says

Kingston Police are investigating another smashed bus shelter, this time at Weller Avenue and Trillium Court.

Jeremy Dacosta from Kingston Transit said that it was notified by a passenger around 3 p.m. on Sunday of a “projectile” going through the glass in the bus shelter. Dacosta could not confirm what the projectile might be, and police could not confirm whether a weapon was used at the scene.

On March 7, three bus shelters in two locations — one on Hwy. 15 across from LaSalle Sceondary School and one on Hwy. 2 in front of the Kingston Military Community Sports Centre — were smashed in much the same way.

Although police did say they had a suspect for the current vandalism, they couldn’t confirm whether the two incidents were connected.

The damage to the previous bus shelters was up to $4,000, but this time, only one bus shelter was targeted, so Dacosta said the repair and cleanup will only cost up to $750.
