A 22-year-old London man faces a number of theft charges after a traffic stop in Sarnia.
Around 7 p.m. on Friday, a Sarnia police officer, on patrol in the area of London Road and Christina Street, ran an Ontario license plate query on a vehicle and discovered that the plates had been reported stolen in London.
Police stopped the car. The driver and a passenger were in the vehicle at the time.
Police say the driver gave a fake name, and didn’t originally provide I.D. when asked. He was arrested and taken into custody after an investigation revealed the vehicle had also been reported stolen.
A search of the vehicle found another stolen licence plate, small amounts of marijuana and crystal meth, and a number of tools and switchblades.
The London man faces a count of stolen property over $5,000, public mischief, two counts of possession, two counts of stolen property under $5,000, possession of break and enter tools, and breach of probation.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
