The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against a realtor who filed for the “Starboy” trademark shortly after the R&B star released his chart-topping album of the same name in 2016.
The Canadian singer’s lawyers reportedly filed documentation against Eymun Talasazan, who filed to trademark “Starboy” for his own creative projects after The Weeknd released his album and hit song of the same name.
Talasazan also filed a trademark request for use in comic books less than two weeks after The Weeknd’s comic collaboration with Marvel, titled The Weekend Presents: Starboy, received a June 2018 release date.

Talasazan has also tried to trademark other musician’s popular taglines such as Drake’s “Runnin’ Through the 6” and “Straight Outta Bompton,” riding on the coattails of the N.W.A movie Straight Outta Compton.
Issue one of The Weeknd Presents: Starboy will be released on June 13, and will feature Tesfaye as the hero of the comic. In the comic, which was written by Tesfaye, La Mar Taylor and Christos Gate, he will fight the “cannibalistic criminal mastermind Jack ‘The Chef’ Smiley” in a bid to save the fictional city of Alphatron from his evil grasp.”

The Weeknd’s Starboy album debuted atop the Billboard 200 albums chart and went platinum. The album also had two Top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including the chart-topping title track, Starboy.
The 2016 album also won the Best Urban Contemporary Album award at the 2018 Grammys.
The Weeknd released his surprise six-song EP, My Dear Melancholy, on Friday.
