Century-old records broken in Saskatchewan over Easter weekend

Marcea Malinowski / Viewer Submitted

Bitterly cold air moved in over the Easter weekend, breaking century-old records across Saskatchewan.

An Alberta Clipper swept through the province on Friday, bringing snow and strong winds. Rockglen recorded 11 centimetres of snowfall, otherwise much of southern Saskatchewan had between 5-10 cm.

Cold, arctic air also dipped into the province over the Easter long weekend. The polar air, combined with winds, made much of the province feel colder than -30. A total of eleven temperature records were broken Friday and Saturday, with some records being over 100 years old.
