Crash involving 5 semis causes big delays on QEII near Bowden, Alta

The northbound lanes of Highway 2 near Bowden reopened early Thursday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash involving several semis earlier in the morning, RCMP said.

Mounties said traffic was diverted for just over nine hours as crews worked to clear the area.

At around 2:30 a.m., RCMP said they responded to a call of a tractor-trailer that had jackknifed on the QEII.

Twitter user Terry Bleau said there was a “mile-long backup.”

RCMP confirmed Thursday afternoon that five semi tractor-trailers had been involved in the crash.
