A chunk of downtown Toronto will be off-limits to traffic during game days for the next several months due to enhanced security measures for Blue Jays games and the upcoming NBA and NHL playoffs.
Toronto police have released a plan to close a section of roads surrounding the Rogers Centre and the Air Canada Centre to better ensure pedestrian safety and the flow of traffic in the area.
Authorities said the new measures are not linked to any specific security threat.

“While there is no imminent threat at this time, security issues are closely monitored and changes will be implemented as required,” police said in a media release.
There will also be pre-game and end-of-game closures on dates where both the ACC and Rogers Centre have overlap dates scheduled.
Those living in nearby condominiums and businesses in the area will be given security passes to access the security zone.
