Calgary police have identified the woman found dead in the backyard of a Marlborough Park home on Sunday as 22-year-old Nadia El-Dib.
An autopsy completed Tuesday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed she was the victim of a murder.
El-Dib’s body was found at about 9 a.m. on Sunday by residents in the area.
Police believe the victim and suspect were in a relationship for a short while before she was killed.
Investigators do not yet know a possible motive for the murder but believe the death was “planned and deliberate.”
Police are still looking for 21-year-old Adam Bettahar, who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder.
Staff Sgt. Colin Chisolm said on Monday that investigators believe the homicide happened at the home where the woman’s body was found and that Bettahar is “associated to that residence.”
Police said he should not be approached. Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Calgary police at 403-428-8877 or to contact Crime Stoppers.
