A man was killed in a head-on collision southwest of Edmonton on Highway 19, after an overnight snowfall coated area roads Friday morning.
The two-vehicle collision happened at 8:44 a.m. near Range Road 260, about two kilometres east of Devon.
A pickup truck carrying three men collided with another pickup truck that had two men inside. Two heavily damaged trucks could be seen on scene.
A man in the first pickup was killed, while the other two men were taken to hospital with unknown injuries. The two men in the other truck were treated on scene, but police said they didn’t need to go to the hospital.
The highway was impassable for several hours and traffic was being re-routed to side roads. As of noon, the road had been re-opened in one direction and RCMP expected the other side of the two-lane highway to be open by early afternoon.
The cause of the crash was not yet known, however RCMP noted the driving conditions were very poor Friday morning.
