Guelph Royals return to the field on May 12

The Guelph Royals will begin its 100th season at home against the Brantford Red Sox on May 12.

The Intercounty Baseball League, which is also celebrating its 100th anniversary, released the schedule for the upcoming season on Thursday.

The Royals head into this season with a new owner after the team folded in June last year, midway through the 2017 season.

The team was purchased by Canadawide Sports owner, Shawn Fuller, in September and former manager, Steve Scagnetti, was named general manager.

Guelph last won the league championship in 2004.
