The body of a missing wildfire evacuee has been found at a pond near an pulp mill in B.C.’s interior.
Kamloops RCMP said they have identified the body of 67-year old David Michael Jeff, found in a settling pond near the Domtar Pulp Mill last Friday. The RCMP said foul play is not suspected in Jeff’s death and an investigation is continuing into how the body ended up in the pond.
Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said investigators are creating a timeline of Jeff’s whereabouts and are asking to speak to anyone who spent time with him in July or August.

Jeff was reported missing on July 31, kicking off an extensive search by the police, family and friends. He was one of 24,000 Williams Lake, B.C. residents ordered to evacuate as wildfires raged closer to the town.
