Global Citizen, which started in New York in 2012, highlights issues that affect women and girls around the world, such as global health and climate change.

Tickets to the event are free and can be earned by emailing world leaders about issues, signing petitions and using social media to generate commitments in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

For the Vancouver event, issue-specific goals include girls’ and women’s health and calling on the Canadian government to become a leader on these issues. It also includes the issue of climate change and agriculture, calling on Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, to further help women and girls to adapt to climate change.
