Several apartment units in Pointe-Aux-Trembles were evacuated early Friday after a fire started at a construction site near 4th Avenue and Notre-Dame Street.

Flames reached the neighbouring building which housed several residences above a depanneur around 1 a.m.

“About a dozen people were rescued from the building,” said Montreal police spokesperson Raphael Bergeron. “Nobody was injured.”

Montreal police arson squad was asked to investigate.
