While several Winnipeg emergency rooms closed last October as part of the WRHA’s consolidation project, one local ER is about to get bigger.
St. Boniface Hospital is expanding its emergency department, and will begin work on the project next month.

The renovations will see 10 new beds and 25 extra pre-triage waiting spaces come to the hospital, with an anticipated budget of $5 million.
The first phase of the project sees demolition beginning in April, before a year’s worth of construction starts in the summer.

The upgrades are expected to be completed in mid-2019.
The WRHA will provide an update on the status of the project Wednesday morning and will announce its tender for the demolition and construction phases in the coming days.
