Edmonton Eskimos’ Carson Walch departs for Super Bowl champions

The Edmonton Eskimos will be needing a new play caller on offence this season.

The team announced on Monday that offensive coordinator and receivers coach Carson Walch will be leaving for the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles to become an assistant wide receivers coach.

Walch spent the last two seasons with the Eskimos. In his first season in 2016, Walch served as the receivers coach and passing game coordinator, before taking over from head coach Jason Maas as the offensive coordinator in 2017.

Walch helped the Eskimos last season lead the CFL in most points by an offence (489), most net yards gained (7,323), most passing yards (5,972), and finish second in the league in rushing yards (1,734).

There’s no word yet from the Eskimos on who will take over as offensive coordinator for the 2018 CFL season.
