The seasonal parking ban in Edmonton will be lifted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, the City of Edmonton says. The parking ban took effect early Monday morning so crews could tackle the considerable snowfall that hit the region over the past few days.
The ban took effect just after midnight Sunday, after 15 to 25 centimetres of snow fell in and around the Edmonton region Friday and Saturday, according to Global News weather specialist Kevin O’Connell.

Drivers who park their vehicles on streets with Seasonal Parking Ban signs risk getting a ticket and having their vehicle towed.
As of noon on Monday, 231 tickets had been issued to drivers not obeying the parking ban.

Residents are asked to remove their vehicles from major arterial, collector and marked roads until the ban is lifted Tuesday afternoon.
“We know that Edmontonians have places to go, and we rely on their co-operation to keep our city on the move,” Janet Tecklenborg, the City of Edmonton director of infrastructure operations, said.
The city said crews will be working 24 hours a day until roads are clear.
A Seasonal Parking Ban is issued when more than 10 centimetres of snow falls.
The ban will remain in effect until the city declares it’s over.
