A CN freight train derailed at John F. Scott Road and Highway 15 in Kingston early Saturday afternoon.
There were no reports of injuries.
Canadian National Railway told CKWS that two cars at the end of a westbound freight CN train derailed around 1:20 p.m. Both cars were carrying paper.
“There were no injuries or dangerous goods involved,” said Joslyn Young, manager of public affairs for Canadian National Railway.
Crews are working to repair damages to the track.
The derailment caused cancellations for passengers travelling on VIA Rail between Toronto and Ottawa as well as Toronto and Montreal.
Gary Nock was forced to look into new travel options for his girlfriend, who was supposed to arrive on a VIA train from Montreal.

Her train was delayed for two hours before eventually being cancelled.
“It’s not rally frustrating — it’s more of an inconvenience for a lot of people, mostly just for people who are going out for March Break,” Nock said.
“Passengers who were scheduled to depart tonight will have to make other arrangements as all trains are cancelled,” VIA Rail senior director of communications Marie-Anna Murat said in a statement to Global News.
“They have a choice of a full refund or exchange for a later travel date at the same rate they purchased their ticket.”
VIA Rail says the trains will remain cancelled until further notice.
