A German figure skater is under fire after performing to music from the film Schindler’s List at the 2018 Winter Olympics on Friday.
Nicole Schott, 21, was competing in the singles figure skating competition and used the Academy Award-winning score for her choreographed routine.
John Williams wrote the score in 1993, for Steven Spielberg’s film about the life of German factory owner Oskar Schindler, who saved the lives of 1,200 Jewish people from the Nazis during the Holocaust.
But it’s not the first time the music has been used in a figure skating competition. Months after the score was released, German figure skater Katarina Witt used it in one of her performances — but not at an Olympic competition — according to USA Today.
The score was also used at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi by Russia figure skater, Yulia Lipnitskaya.

The use of the music still caused an uproar on social media as some Twitter users accused the German skater of insensitivity for her music choice.
