Saskatoon Blades eke out OT win over Edmonton Oil Kings

Jake Kustra was the overtime hero as the Saskatoon Blades downed the Edmonton Oil Kings 3-2 on Monday in Western Hockey League action.

Kustra took a pass from Braylon Shmyr to score the winner 1:37 in the extra period.

Shmyr also added a goal, his 32nd of the season, and Chase Wouters had a shorthanded goal and an assist in the win.

Kober Mohr and Trey Fix-Wolansky scored for the Oil Kings (18-33-8).

Nolan Maier made 13 saves to pick up his 22nd win of the year. Edmonton goalie Todd Scott stopped 18 shots before leaving the game in the third period with an injury. Josh Deschaine made two saves in relief in picking up the loss.

The win moves Saskatoon (31-27-3) eight points up on Prince Albert for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference after the Regina Pats downed the Raiders 3-1.

The Blades are back in action at home on Friday when they take on the Pats.
