Hundreds of residents took advantage of discounted prices and dozens of activities at the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough.
“There isn’t a whole lot to do on Family Day, a lot of places are closed, so this is a really nice local attraction with a lot of hands-on activities that a lot of age groups can do,” said museum staff member Hayley Nabuurs.
A family with two adults and four children could get into the museum for $25. The museum also reduced its annual membership rate from $50 to $45 for the year.

To keep children busy and entertained, the museum had everything from colouring activities and paper puzzles to creating tiny voyageurs out of pegs.
“I’d say the best part of my day is building a cabin and fishing down there,” said eight-year-old Grayson Carswell-Gomez, pointing to a small fishing game. “It’s pretty fun.”
But despite all the arts and crafts, there’s one element 10-year-old Bailey Smeenk insisted everyone should see: “Look at all the amazing canoes and how they’re made,” Smeenk said.
