An 11-year member of the Calgary Police Service (CPS) has been charged with uttering threats following an off-duty domestic incident.
The member was arrested on Sunday and has been charged by the RCMP, CPS said in a Monday news release.
The domestic incident happened in a neighbouring municipality, CPS said.
The name of the member is not being released to protect the victim’s privacy.
CPS said the member was on an unrelated leave at the time of the incident and remains on leave.
“Information about this incident and charges are being released in the interests of public transparency,” CPS said.
“The charged officer is afforded the right to a fair trial, the same as any member of the public, and they will be offered the appropriate supports from the Service during the court process.”
